- To Everything There is a Reason
- November 1997
- Dear Friends
When I travel, I often read the Bible which is always on the bedside table, either in the first drawer or sometimes on top of the table. I suspect that its location, either concealed or visible, has to do with the person who put it there.
Today, the marker was on Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. I have read this on many occasions and it is a favorite, amongst many. It begins:
"To everything there is a season; and a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck what has been planted"
This lovely message continues:
"A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to cast away stone and a time to gather stones together . . . A time to get and a time to lose; a time to keep silent and a time to speak."
At this time of Thanksgiving, may I respectfully submit that it is time to love and to live.
